I just released QS Format Painter, a Qlik Sense extension that copies the size, position and style of one object onto several others, and aligns or lays out a group of objects in one click.
It is a development tool. You drop it on a sheet, a floating toolbar appears, and you use it while you build.
With five or six objects in a Layout Container, dragging corners until everything matches is fine. With thirty, it takes an afternoon and the result is still slightly off. The native Copy style helps, but it carries colours and fonts and not the size, so the slowest part is the part you still do by hand.
What it does
- Copy a format onto many objects at once so Pick the format from one object, click the ones that should match.
- Size, position and style, together or separately (Three toggles decide what to copy).
- Align and distribute like in PowerPoint Align left, centre, right, top, middle, bottom, match widths and heights, distribute horizontally or vertically.
- Layout templates Row, column, or a grid of two, three or four columns, either sized from the reference object or filling the container edge to edge.
- Works inside Layout Containers.
- One click undo Twenty levels of history, and a paste that changes both size and style counts as one.
- Keyboard shortcuts Alt+C to pick a format, Alt+V to apply it.
- Light and dark theme Qlik colours by default.
How to use it
- Drop the QS Format Painter object anywhere on the sheet. One instance is enough.
- Choose what to carry with the Size, Position and Style chips.
- Click the selector icon, then click the object you want to copy from.
- Click the paste icon, then click every object that should match. Confirm with the button, Enter, or a right click.
- Save the app.
Double click the paste icon to keep it active across several objects. The selection stays live between alignment operations, so you can align to the top and then distribute without reselecting.
